YOUR VA BENEFITS PAGE
I
started this web site with one thing in mind...helping my brother
and sister veterans. The original site was Your VA Benefits dot Org
and it will remain up and running for a period of time. This
site combines a number of my projects aimed at helping veterans.
Having dealt with the VA for over 25 years I decided to
stop carping about them and start helping others deal with them.
This web site is a work in progress...it will always be changing.
I hope you find useful information here...if so please pass it
along.
If you don't don't have the 2006 edition of the
Federal Benefits for Veterans and Dependents handbook, go to the
Books For Vets page and
download a free copy. You'll never be able to collect your
benefits if you don't know what they are.
The purpose of this site is to help veterans in their
quest for healthcare benefits provided by the VA. This is NOT
a "moan and groan" web site. I know many vets have problems
with the VA and the purpose of this site is to help solve those
problems. Please browse through the pages. And, if you
have a question I can answer, please
email me and I'll do my best to
answer or point you in the right direction to get an answer.
In the last five-plus years we have seen our VA
benefits eroded like never before. I AM making a political
statement here. Reality is reality. The Bush
administration has so severely under-funded VA healthcare that many
veterans wait more than a year to get into the system. And,
once in the system the wait can be two to three years for necessary
healthcare and diagnostic procedures.
I served a little over four years in the U.S. Army and
came away with a service-connected disability. At the time I
didn't think much about it. I registered with the VA and they
took care of any problems related to the disability.
But, what the VA did NOT do was inform me of ALL the
benefits that were mine. It was only a few months ago that I
discovered my eyeglasses are covered by the VA. I estimate I
have spent over $5,000 the last 25 years on glasses...and I didn't
have to spend a cent! I don't want you to make the same
mistakes I made.
Remember, the VA will NOT come to you! You have
to go out, do the research, and learn what benefits you have coming.
