| It's time
to make a demand of our elected representatives.
Support Full
and Mandatory Funding for VA Healthcare or you don't get my vote!
It's plain
and simple -- NO FUNDING, NO VOTE
Write your Representative and Senators. Ask a
simple question: "Do you support
Full and Mandatory Funding for VA
Healthcare?" And explain to them that your vote depends on a
"yes" answer. Also let them know that you are in touch with
other veterans who will be asking the same question.
We have sat
on our butts for too long and let the VA healthcare budget stay
discretionary. There have been House and Senate resolutions to
make VA healthcare mandatory. But, they languish in committee
or never make it to a vote.
Veterans,
working as one, can make this happen.
Below is a
sample body for a letter/email to your elected rep. If you get
a form letter back, call their office and politely ask for an
answer...explain to the receptionist that your vote depends on an
answer.

| As a _____ -year veteran of
the (service) I am concerned about proper funding of the VA
healthcare budget. Every
year, Congress must fight over the dollar figures as VA
healthcare funding is still part of the discretionary budget.
There have been House and
Senate resolutions to make VA healthcare part of the mandatory
budget. These resolutions have languished in committee
or never made it to a vote.
The VA healthcare budget has
been underfunded for too long. I am, therefore, asking
you as my (Representative or Senator), do you support
Full and Mandatory Funding for VA Healthcare? Will you
push to bring this matter to the floor for a vote? Will
you vote for it?
You must know that my vote in
the coming election depends on your answers. If you do
not support veterans' healthcare, I cannot support you.
And, I will urge my brother and sister veterans to follow my
example.
NO FUNDING, NO VOTE!
Thank you, and I anxiously
await your reply. |
Be sure to
get out the word to other veterans. Make them think about this
issue. Write to your newspaper. Call radio talk shows.
Post on blogs and bulletin boards.
Below is a
sample letter to the editor of your newspaper.

The VA healthcare budget has
been underfunded for too long. Many thousands of
qualified veterans are not receiving the healthcare they need
because local VA facilities do not have the funds to hire the
doctors, nurses and technicians to provide that care.
I am, therefore, asking my
elected representatives the following questions: Do you
support Full and Mandatory Funding for VA Healthcare?
Will you push to bring this matter to the floor for a vote?
Will you vote for it?
I have told my representatives
that my vote in the coming election depends on their answers.
If they do not support veterans' healthcare, I cannot support
them. I am urging my brother and sister veterans to
follow my example. And, I urge the readers of this
letter to consider doing the same.
NO FUNDING, NO VOTE! |
Hundreds of
thousands of veterans are waiting for healthcare outside and inside
the VA system. It's time for this to stop!
And, if you
feel creative and have a buck or two...print up some bumper stickers
and hand them out. Below are a few examples I cranked out and
links to the files for printing. Just click and download.
(It is best NOT to download the image you see on the screen as the
resolution is very low and will not print well.)

File for above bumper sticker in
PSD (Photoshop) is here. File in
