Last week the VA reported 44
veterans with viral infection after having
received
endoscopic procedures with possibly
contaminated equipment.
That number now stands at 48.
We also reported last week how
the
VA had "hidden" the infection tally in a maze of web pages.
The VA has simplified the
process of finding this information, somewhat, but you still have
to do the math and add all the numbers to get any totals.
VA continues to congratulate
itself on how they are handling this situation:
VA will continue to notify,
inform, and treat all potentially impacted Veterans, regardless
of risk, cause, or harm. Many people incur injury as a result of
medical errors that could have been prevented - Unfortunately,
many health care organizations do not voluntarily disclose their
problems to patients or the broader public. In contrast, it is
VA’s policy to actively seek out quality problems, discuss them
openly, and tackle them head on.
The pages where you can find the
latest infection counts are:

Augusta ENT Clinic
