In a recent interview, Cindy McCain, wife of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), made the comments below. I have received tons of email from veterans who believe Mrs. McCain is dissing veterans with PTSD. On the other hand, I have been told what she says is true: Officers were better trained to deal with the stresses of war while the "grunts" were just sent off to battle. So... which is it? CM: My husband will be the first one to tell you that that’s in the past. Certainly it’s a part of who he is, but he doesn’t dwell on it. It’s not part of a daily experience that we experience or anything like that. But it has shaped him. It has made him the leader that he is.
