JUST FADE AWAY -- Unless given new life by Capitol Hill hearings, expect the VA shredder scandal to quietly disappear.
All stories regarding the VA's shredder and
document handling scandal can be found on this page... click here... Your comments accepted at bottom of page. ------------------------- by Larry Scott
I feel like "Dandy Don" Meredith, the former football great and announcer on Monday Night Football, who, when he knew the outcome of the game, would sing, "Turn out the lights, the party's o-o-o-over..." We are close to that stage of the game when it comes to the VA shredder scandal. The House Vets' Committee held their roundtable
discussion. Story here... The VA has made promises to veterans whose
documents may have been shredded, mishandled or went missing. Two
stories here... Now what? We wait to see if VA does outreach to inform veterans of the shredder problem and the new rules that will allow them to re-open a claim. We wait to see what the VA's Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) will say in their reports about document mishandling at a number of Regional Offices. We wait to see if the House Vets' Committee will hold a real hearing in the new Congress... not just a "discussion." We wait to see if the Senate Vets' Committee will hold a hearing. For now, the VA shredder scandal will just fade away, like that old soldier. Until..... The VA gets caught again..... ------------------------- ------------------------- Don't forget to read all of today's VA News Flashes (click here) |
