REPORTS OF UNLAWFUL VA BENEFITS SOLICITATION --

Companies are offering to help vets get benefits, for a price.

This is a little story with big impact.

And, it is happening all over the country.

I discovered a company in my home town that claims to have "contacts" with the VA and can help me get more benefits...their fee...$280.  I turned them in.

I found a web site the other day that charges vets $20 to help them find a Service Officer.  How about calling your local VA facility?  It costs $20 less!

Don't pay a penny to any company or person who claims they are going to help you get benefits.

It's just a scam!

---------------

Reports Of Unlawful VA Solicitation

Bernard Yelkin of the Marshall County Veteran's Service Agency indicated this week that there have been reports in South Dakota about individuals employed by private companies who claim to help veterans and their dependents apply for VA benefits.

Some of these individuals have targeted elderly claimants at assisted living facilities and give claimants the impression that the VA employs them.

These individuals charge a fee for providing this service.

Yelkin said that unauthorized representation of claimants and unlawful solicitation of fees is a serious matter.

The South Dakota Division of Veterans Affairs and the VA is interested in any individual or group that may be engaged in these activities.
