Bob Filner (D-CA), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, has a radical idea.

Filner wants to take Congressional hearings to a completely new level by introducing the roundtable discussion.

The concept, Filner believes, would take some of the aggressive posturing out of hearings in the House Vets' Committee and help put all the players on an equal footing.

The roundtable is just what it appears.  Instead of having people testify before the Committee, Filner wants Committee Members, VA officials, VSO officials and even members of the press to sit down and discuss the issues of importance to veterans.

This morning I interviewed Congressman Filner on the phone from his office in Washington, D.C. and he explains the roundtable concept in detail.
