BOGUS VETERAN AVOIDS JAIL TIME -- Seventy-one-

year-old sentenced to home confinement. Has already

paid back VA for benefits he didn't deserve.

 

 

Roy J. Scott (no relation) was quite the wannabe.  Now, he's been sentenced.

Port Angeles man avoids jail for bogus military claim

SEATTLE -- A Port Angeles man who falsely claimed to be a wounded Marine veteran avoided jail time at his sentencing today in federal court in Seattle.

Seventy-one-year-old Roy J. Scott was sentenced to four months of home confinement.

He has already paid back nearly $22,000 for VA medical benefits he did not deserve.

Scott pleaded guilty in August to using an altered military discharge certificate to obtain Veterans Administration compensation and medical benefits and to unlawfully wearing the military medals.

Scott claimed to have been wounded in combat in Korea.
